Pablo Valbuena
Pablo Valbuena is a Madrid-based artist whose practice investigates the space between physical architecture and its digital augmentation. Working with projection, light, and time, Valbuena creates site-specific installations that reveal the hidden spatial dimensions of built environments — using light not to decorate surfaces but to expose their geometric logic.
His Augmented Sculpture Series (2007–ongoing) established him as a pioneering figure in the use of projection to dissolve the boundary between physical structure and digital image. Working with simple geometric forms and precisely calibrated projectors, the series creates experiences where the projected image and the physical object become genuinely indistinguishable — a perceptual confusion that is both technically precise and philosophically rich.
Valbuena’s work has been exhibited at major institutions across Europe and internationally, including the Centre Pompidou, LABoral (Gijón), and festivals across the world. His practice is grounded in a formal rigour that connects it to the traditions of minimalist sculpture and kinetic art, updated through the possibilities of real-time computation.
