Synaesthesik

Synaesthesik is an Amsterdam-based collective whose central thesis is simple and radical: the light and the sound are one instrument. In their performances, video and lighting are synced to the kick drum with such precision that the visual and auditory elements become perceptually inseparable — audiences experience them not as two things happening simultaneously, but as a single phenomenon.

This philosophy — Visual Music — is older than VJing itself, tracing back to abstract film pioneers like Oskar Fischinger and Norman McLaren. Synaesthesik brings it into the contemporary club and festival context with technical tools that would have been impossible for those pioneers to imagine.

Their stage designs are full-system: lighting rigs, LED screens, and video projection all addressed from the same data stream, creating environments where every photon is precisely placed. Based in Amsterdam — a city with a long tradition of electronic music and visual art intersection — Synaesthesik are embedded in a vibrant scene that continues to push the relationship between sound and image.
