Yannick Jacquet
Yannick Jacquet is a Belgian visual artist and one of the most important figures in the history of projection art. As a founding member of AntiVJ, he helped define an aesthetic approach to projection mapping that prioritised geometry, material truth, and architectural logic over spectacle — an approach that has been enormously influential on practitioners worldwide.
Jacquet’s work uses light as a sculptural material. Rather than projecting images onto surfaces, he projects light with surfaces — responding to the specific geometry, material, and spatial logic of each environment he works with. The result is a practice that feels simultaneously very simple (a projection, some light) and profoundly sophisticated in its formal intelligence.
His installations have been presented at Ars Electronica, Nuit Blanche, and major venues across Europe, Asia, and North America. His work with AntiVJ has been credited with fundamentally changing the visual language of projection art internationally.
