59 Productions
59 Productions are the definitive studio at the intersection of theatre and projection design — a London and New York-based practice that has produced some of the most celebrated large-scale visual events in the world over the past two decades.
Where many studios approach projection as a primarily technological challenge, 59 Productions approach it as a narrative one. Their roots in theatrical design mean that every projection system they build serves a dramatic or storytelling purpose — light and image in service of meaning, not spectacle for its own sake.
Their landmark commissions include projections on the Sydney Opera House sails, the Tower of London moat (for the Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red poppy installation), and major productions at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. They also produced the opening ceremony sequences for the 2012 London Olympics.
In the theatre world, they have designed projection and visual environments for productions at the National Theatre, RSC, and Broadway — making them the rare studio equally at home on a festival mainstage and in a West End house.
