Marshmallow Laser Feast
Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF) are the UK’s most celebrated immersive experience studio — a practice whose work consistently transcends conventional categories to create encounters that feel less like “art exhibitions” and more like alterations of perception.
Their defining methodology is the making-visible of the invisible: using LiDAR scanners, biological sensors, breath-capture systems, and spatial audio to reveal the hidden dimensions of the natural and scientific world. In We Live in an Ocean of Air (2019), audiences could literally see the oxygen generated by a tree as a glowing cloud of molecules, tracked by sensors measuring their own breath. The experience was simultaneously scientifically accurate and profoundly moving.
Their approach to technology is integrative rather than additive — they use LiDAR not as a gimmick but because it captures the world in a way that conventional cameras cannot, revealing depth, mass, and spatial relationships that are otherwise invisible.
MLF have exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery, Eden Project, Barbican, SXSW, and venues worldwide. In 2026, they continue to develop work at the frontier of environmental immersion and multi-sensory experience design.
